Just so you know I am a real person. Below is my story about how I got started in just one of my small businesses.
For years I have wanted to work at home. I wanted to be with my kids besides not having to pay for someone to watch my child. Having to work meant if my child got sick I was going to have to get off of work and pick them up. If I stayed at home that meant more quality time to spend with them building a stronger bond.
I spent a lot of time and money to find something legitimate allowing me to work at home. I did get burned on somethings though like anything else it was a lesson learned.
I did the Ebay thing even landing a business opportunity to sell items for a hobby shop. Some weeks were better than others. Eventually things just died out and driving every weekend 45 minutes away to pick up, drop off and sort out money just did not make it worth it anymore.
I even took time to scout some yard sales, collect items from friends and family. Like the hobby shop, it died out. Besides, yard sales are seasonal where I live.
I have enjoyed selling on Ebay. It takes a lot of time and some money to invest to keep it going. Sometimes I felt like I was spending more time on Ebay than with my kids. Sorting out sales, preparing the items for shipment and waiting in line at the post office was asking a lot of me. Granted since that time shipping has improved it still requires time that I don’t always have.
So last year I went to an informational meeting held by a friend of mine at church. I was extremely skeptical so I had my best friend, a business development coach go along with me. I am not sure who was more excited me or him. At the time though I was just looking and doing research. I was concerned foremost about the time commitment required for this opportunity. I did a lot of research which is what my friend from church wanted me to do. If I had any questions she would answer them. Obviously though this opportunity had worked for her. Being that she has been involved with this for 14 years now and with the material items she has including her home it is obvious she has been successful at it.
You may be asking by now why is she writing about this? I want others to be able to work at home like me. I make my own hours and I have time to take my kids to school, go home and get ready to head out to my best friends office I share with him. At any time I can go eat with my kids, go on field trips, attend meetings and school activities.
